Playing in the Sand Just Got a Little Bit More Interesting

Kids these days will no longer just settle for the traditional sandbox anymore nor should they have to. This augmented reality sandbox should solve this pressing issue thanks to UC Davis W.M. Keck Center for Active Visualization in the Earth Sciences. They created this sandbox using a Kinect 3D camera and a projector to simulate land movement and water flow.

Augmented Reality Sandbox

The augmented reality sandbox is a really a cool device and may prove to be very useful in the designing of large structures or major earth moving projects. For now they will be on display in a few museums like the Lawrence Hall of Science check it out!
