Is The Bentley EXP 9 F The Most Expensive Sports Utility Vehicle Ever?

The luxurious Bentley EXP 9 F was revealed this week at the Geneva Motor show. Although Bentley is calling this an "ultraluxury concept vehicle" they are very committed to making the EXP 9 F a reality by 2015, according to Bentley's chairman, Wolfgang Dürheimer. They even employed Ralf Frech the lead engineer of the exclusive Porsche Cayenne Sports Utility Vehicle.

While officially it's still a concept, the encouraging noises coming out of Bentley's Crewe, England, headquarters suggest that the chances of production sometime in 2015-16 are very high. Photo by: Bentley

Powering the new Bentley SUV is a 6.0 liter W12 engine. Yes we meant W12, which is a 12 cylinder combustion engine. It's in the shape of a W with three 4 cylinder blocks that share one crankshaft. It's also the current engine in the Audi A8L. The W12 should put out about 600 horsepower according to Bentley. That type of power does not exist yet for any other SUV.

The four-seat cabin drips with wood and leather, which Bentley said it hopes will position the EXP 9 F at the top of the pile of the world's luxury SUVs for interior ambience. Photo by: Bentley

This breaks new ground in the luxury car market and is still a "concept" so price has not yet been mentioned. Some sources online say above the $150000 range, this seems a bit low. The price does peak our curiosity and we will post an update if and when that information becomes available. If  the Bentley EXP 9 F does not become the most expensive SUV it will certainly be one of the coolest.
